Rockin’ at the Rialto Theatre
One of my favorite marketing experiences was at the Rialto Theatre in Tucson, Arizona. During my time there, I was responsible for promoting upcoming shows and events through Facebook Ads Manager. The Marketing Coordinator would set up a budgeting schedule for each talent’s ad and I would create campaigns with custom audience targeting after researching relevant demographics, common behaviors, and interests for each talent. For most ads, each team member pulled static images or readily available media ( a music video recently released, PR article, interview, etc.). I wanted to make each ad unique so I photographed custom murals painted on the side of the Rialto Theatre and post them as ad creatives.
Making an Impact
After learning Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, I was also able to design graphics and edit static images into gifs or short animations to better catch the attention of viewers, and then curated the catchy text copy, headline, and descriptions. Each ad had a trackable link to the ticket eCommerce provider, Ticketfly, to best analyze their results and define KPIs. During my time with Rialto Theatre, I persuaded the marketing team to add social placements that easily synced with the Rialto Facebook business page. In addition, I presented a cost-effective social page manager software, Hootsuite, to assist in scheduling posts ahead of time.
Overall, our team noticed increased ticket sales with the use of motion graphics and videos compared to static images. With the extension to Instagram as a placement for ads, the Rialto Theatre was reaching younger concert-goers target audiences much more effectively.
